5 Ways to Prepare for your Newborn Shoot

1. When to do a newborn shoot
The earlier the better, the best time for newborn photos would be when your little one is between 8 and 12 days old, especially if you want your little one all wrapped and bundled up for those cute sleeping photos.

2. What type of newborn shoot suits your needs?
I know mom is not feeling particularly photo-or travel friendly a few days after giving birth, which is why it is entirely up to you whether you want the photoshoot done at home or in a studio.
I prefer going to my clients home, this way mom and baby can both be as comfortable as possible, and everything is on hand. This also works perfectly for those sweet lifestyle photos.

3. Time
Try to schedule your photoshoot so that it overlaps with naptime and if baby can have a meal before the photoshoot, even better. Newborn shoots can last anything from 1 to 4 hours depending on how fussy or quiet baby is. But do not worry, this is why we schedule out enough time to get those beautiful pics.

4. Expectations and Questions
Make sure that you make your expectations clear to your photographer, and don't be afraid to ask questions. Things to consider - do you want photos of family and siblings with your newborn? Do you want more lifestyle or more styled photos? My packages all include prints, so a good thing to discuss is where your photos will be displayed in your home

5. Newborn Safety
Any trustworthy photographer would make sure all their equipment and props are sanitised for your session. Safety of your newborn is the number one priority of all newborn photographers. Do not be afraid to ask as many questions as you need to, to feel as comfortable as possible with your photographer. Remember that a chill mom makes for a chill baby.
And most of all, savour the moment. It goes by so quickly.
